A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Favourite Holiday Movie Contest. First to the over 70 members who submitted 24 favourite holiday movies for consideration and then to the almost 200 member who voted. The favourite movie overall… Home Alone!
We had multiple submissions of this movie and the first prize winner was drawn at random from those submissions. As well, we entered everyone who submitted a movie into two random draws for 2nd and 3rd prizes. The 3 winners of the Cineplex Gift cards are:

- Home Alone – classic story about family and what it means to feel joy around the holidays. The comedy is also stand out. P.S. reminds you of the importance of good classroom management. Kevin would never get lost if his parents were teachers
- It’s a Wonderful Life – the enduring message of the beauty of life and reminds you live your life meaningfully.
- Klaus – cute and family friendly
- Last Holiday – reminds us to appreciate life and to live our lives to the fullest!
- Lord of Rings trilogy – Tolkien’s stories have gathered people to his characters for years – plus it makes for excellent marathon viewing!
- Love Actually –the soundtrack is gold! It is about all the feelings – love, unrequited love, sadness, loneliness, joy, jealousy, transition. It is about coming together during the holidays and that everyone has different experiences.
- Miracle on 34th Street – the core message of the movie is to have hope, to believe in something bigger than you are and have some magic in life (even if you wind up making the magic yourself).
- Muppet Christmas Carol – clever humour, outstanding musical numbers and acting performances, and – of course – muppets! Plus Michael Caine plays Scrooge with such intensity … while surrounded by puppets.
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – hilarious, relatable, and goes heavy on the nostalgia. It is perfect family disfunction layered with heart warming togetherness.
