Education Funding Model Review Report
In February 2018, the Honourable Rob Fleming, Minister of Education, appointed a seven-member Independent Funding Model Review Panel (the Panel) to review and provide recommendations to the way funding is allocated in the K-12 public education sector in British Columbia (BC). The last major changes to the allocation mechanism were undertaken in 2002. The review and recommendations were informed by feedback received during one-on-one meetings with sector partners and stakeholders, regional meetings with or written submissions from all 60 school district leadership teams, and over 100 written submissions from a range of other stakeholder and partner organizations. Also considered were a range of domestic and international research on education funding models throughout this process.
