Day of Mourning School Project (April 23-26)

The National Day of Mourning is on Saturday, April 28, but schools will be commemorating the day on Friday, April 26. 

THE GOAL is to educate our youth on workplace safety to help reduce young worker injuries and fatalities.

The DOM School Project is a partnership of the BC Federation of Labour, BC Labour Heritage CentreBC Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ AssociationBC School Trustees’ Association, BC Teachers’ Federation, CUPE BC and WorkSafe BC.

APRIL 28 – The National Day of Mourning was officially recognized in 1991 when Parliament passed the Mourning Act.  Now endorsed by government, labour and employers, the day commemorates those workers who were killed or injured on the job.
