The Staff Organization (all VSTA members on staff at your school) shall meet to elect the Site-Based Union Team in June or early September. Staff Reps are members of the VSTA Council, while Committee Reps are members of one of the several VSTA Committees or chair their site’s Staff Committee.
Of special note, with a municipal election approaching and a new school board soon to be elected, this is an important time to strengthen our collective voice. The School Union Team is seeking a member to serve as Local Election / Political Action Contact. This role works with and supports the Staff Reps to help colleagues understand how public policy decisions affect our working and learning conditions, share key information on campaigns and labour issues, and connect school staff to VSTA and BCTF political action. It also supports staff engagement in advocacy and collective action.
