THAT the minutes of January 25, 2022 be adopted.

Business of the February 24 VSTA Council Meeting

             i.        Britannia Poster Removal

            ii.        2SLGBTQQ+ Ad Hoc Committee

Motion: Lau/Kumar
THAT the VSTA 2SLGBTQQ+ Ad Hoc Committee call for the resignation of Alyssa Reid in solidarity with the Britannia staff letter and student impact statements.

THAT the VSTA Executive request support from the BCTF to conduct an internal investigation into the events at Britannia Secondary, take steps to address the homophobia/transphobia that led to the union interference in student equity leadership initiatives, and propose measures to address the harm caused to members, including potential bylaw changes to support greater accountability for VSTA Table Officers.

THAT the VSTA In House Table Officers and Executive Committee complete anti-oppression training from the BCTF annually before the end of the school year and immediately develop policy statements committing to discrimination-free practices and to develop transparent, accountable policy and procedures for members to raise concerns about representation and discrimination.

THAT VSTA IHTOs advocate that TTOCs all be assigned a “home school” and be added to that corresponding site’s MS Teams so they are receiving updates in a timely manner.

THAT a full external investigation take place regarding the incident at Britannia on Feb 9th, 2022, which saw the removal of 2SLGBTQ+ student posters by VSTA Second Vice President Alyssa Reid, and that the VSTA In House Table Officers and Executive Committee provide a transparent account of the findings to all members.
