
Annual Women’s Memorial March – February 14th!
The first women’s memorial march was held in 1992 in response to the murder of a woman on Powell Street in Vancouver. Out of this sense of hopelessness and anger came an annual march on Valentine’s Day to express compassion, community, and caring for all women in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside on unceded Coast Salish territories.

UNITE HERE LOCAL 40
Thus far over 30 women from the Pacific Gateway Hotel in Richmond have been permanently fired. Unite Here Local 40 believe that they are trying to use the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to replace people, many of which are immigrant women, and to hire new workers at a lower wage. As a response, workers from the Pacific Gateway Hotel have voted to go on strike.

International Women’s Day
MARCH 8 is International Women’s Day, a global day of recognition celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and girls, and raising awareness of the work left to be done.
